Zen-Like Bathroom Interiors: Jennifer Chong’s Bespoke Design Philosophy

Feioi's Calming Bathroom Design

Unwind, relax and embrace an overriding sense of peace. This bathroom space featuring Terra in Ember celebrates practicality, while also being wrapped in a soothing zen-like aesthetic. Terra offers a clean concrete rectangular form, available in three size variations it’s the perfect choice for a variety of bathroom settings.

Designed by Feioi, (pronounced fay-oy) managed by Jennifer Chong, Feioi takes its name from Jennifer's Chinese name, which means "bringing love." Feioi specialises in residential interiors, delivering a thoughtful and considered approach to help clients create their dream homes.

Jennifer firmly believes that a home should work for its inhabitants and their lifestyle, both in form and function. Recognising that everyone is different, she understands there's no "one size fits all" in interior design. To create the perfect design, Jennifer takes the time to get to know her clients, their lifestyles, preferences, and the issues they face with their homes, “That way I can ensure that the design I create is perfect for them!”. This process involves several in-depth conversations, “which clients often find quite eye-opening!”

Layout First: Designing Bathrooms for Functionality

“I always start with the floor plan. Layout is key with bathrooms as it's such a functional space, and often one of the smallest rooms in the house. Positioning each piece, as well as the size and shape of those pieces, is important to get right so that the space flows and is a joy to use. It doesn't matter how beautiful it looks if you are going to keep bumping into that same corner or squeezing through a gap that's too small.” Jennifer strives to infuse as much warmth and texture as possible so that each bathroom design feels like a welcoming luxurious space.

Cohesive Colour Palettes

Your designs have a beautiful use of colour, what inspires you?

“I love looking to nature for inspiration, she has the best colour combos! But also fashion, architecture, and food are all places I can draw inspiration from, whether it's colours, patterns, or textures. I'm constantly looking for design inspiration, I think my brain can't help searching for it!”

Incorporating Kast: A Designer's Affinity for Variety, Colour, and Texture

What draws you to use Kast in your designs?

“I just love the variety in shapes, styles and colours. They're a bit fun but there's an element of luxury too and so beautifully designed. I adore the texture of the concrete too.”

What’s your favorite Kast colour?

“I am partial to a pink so I think I'll have to go for Blush!”

Do you have a favourite basin?

“Can I have two? Luna is just adorable and the curves make it perfect for smaller spaces, but for a larger bathroom I think Sono is such a classy choice!”

What would you say to others considering incorporating a Kast basin into a project?

“Rather than just choosing the basin on its own, really consider your colour palette and how it will work with the other elements in the space (samples are very useful for this!) A Kast basin is definitely going to make a statement but you don't want it to look out of place so everything has to work together. That way you'll have a stunning focal point but the room still looks cohesive.”
