Bold Colours in Bathroom Design. The Kenton Midcentury Suite

What once was a three-piece bathroom encased by underutilised closets has been transformed into a dynamic suite by Dyer Studio.

The standout basin

The Rho basin by Kast is a testament to practicality and elegance, featuring an elegantly curved countertop design with ample inner depth.

From the outset, Stephanie Dyer’s client’s passion for unique and inspiring products set the tone. The soft silhouette of the Rho was an integral starting point of the design process. “You know you have great clients when a feature piece like this basin is brought to the table on day one,” notes Stephanie. “Enthusiasm for unique products and concepts undeniably supercharges our creative process!”

The Kenton Midcentury project was an exercise in freeing ourselves from the confines of square walls. “In rethinking the organisation of space into a diagonal format, we achieved maximum use and discovered unexpected opportunities.”

The perfect palette

The palette emerged from the Kast concrete basin Ember tone “and the terrazzo followed”. “We found a perfect marriage between the Ember and Terrazzo,” explains Stephanie.

The natural element of oak brings a warm presence to the otherwise crisp, hard surfaces, and using raw materials allows users to reconnect with nature. Concrete is an excellent choice as its organic appearance offers a grounding, but elevated aesthetic. Paired with a clean palette and a considered layout the concrete ember basin offers a striking but cohesive feel to this bathroom space.

An unconventional layout

In response to the client's desire for an inspiring yet functional bathroom, Studio Dyer reconfigured the bathroom layout to maximise use in a diagonal format. The approach was unconventional, aiming to break free from the confines of square walls. “In rethinking the organization of space, we were able to achieve maximum use and discover unexpected opportunities”.

You enter the bathroom at an angle where you’re immediately faced with terrazzo, white oak and Ember Kast basin. The layout was carefully considered, with ample space directed towards the tub, ensuring a luxurious and comfortable bathing experience. Meanwhile, in areas where space was less critical, such as the shower, space was reserved. “Early in the design process, we explored several schemes” The third drew inspiration from the home’s original central angled fireplace, and instantly captured the clients’ imagination.

Dyer Studio's Kenton Midcentury project reimagines a three-piece bathroom into a dynamic suite with a focus on innovative space design.

The Rho basin serves as a practical and elegant centrepiece to this refreshing bathroom design.

Available in a choice of 28 colours from delicate tones to high-intensity hues, Kast can offer a solution to suit a variety of project requirements.
