Alex Proba’s Signature Explosive Use of Colour

Multidisciplinary artist and designer Alex Proba filled a soaring, modern house in the woods with her signature explosive use of colour.

Optimistic Decor

Positivity leads the way with brighter hues, naive designs and jubilant murals in this joyful bathroom space. Alex’s goals were centred around creating an environment that truly represented her artistic spirit and personal style. “Ultimately, my bathroom design was a reflection of the colourful and imaginative world inside my mind”.

Bright Hues and Jubilant Murals

Large-scale organic botanical murals offer a sense of nostalgia that reminds Alex of her childhood. Alex’s grandmother, a former florist instilled a love for all things floral. “I carefully considered mural artwork that would align with my vision of reflecting nature, and the vibrant, floral world inspired by my grandmother's garden”. The fusion of lively natural motifs with serene, contemporary features results in a bathroom space that offers Alex a peaceful retreat whilst paying homage to her grandmother's legacy.

Pure Palette Perfection

The palette choice wasn’t a conscious decision, it was more of an instinctual decision notes Alex. Vibrant colours are reminiscent of the garden, and free-flowing organic shapes add a sense of joy. As the bathroom project was an upgrade rather than a full renovation, the challenge was creating a cohesive design. The key to this was to be selective with the combination of materials, the sleek contemporary elements of the Sienna concrete basin provided the juxtaposition needed to balance the the bold and colourful with contemporary and calm.

The Sienna

Featured in Blush, the Sienna was selected due to its unique blend of craftsmanship and modern design. “It offered a tactile and organic quality that resonated with the natural and bold elements in my bathroom design” An easy decision for Alex as she described it as the “most calm and modern piece” from Kast’s core collection. The Sienna is a monolithic concrete trough design formed as a twin sink vanity for two, it offers a minimal contemporary aesthetic, dedicated to functionality and crafted to make a bold statement. It’s wall-hung for ample floor space, combining space-saving efficiency with a sleek minimal design.⁠ ⁠
